Perhaps one of the times I’m most proud to live in Canada is Toronto Pride. It’s not confined to neighbourhood or side of the city, but all of Toronto celebrates.
This year was particularly special because Toronto was designated World Pride, but more importantly because friends asked us to march with them in the parade.
Leading up to the parade it was amazing to see that conservative financial institutions were taking down corporate signs and replacing them with rainbow flags.
Toronto Pride is a huge celebration and perhaps the most fun weekend in the city.
Today friends wore white and were armed with coloured water, one of many amazing entries.
Toronto is a city of many cultures and it was amazing to see so many flags from other countries, but also a reminder that this is not the case in many countries.
But maybe that’s why Pride is so important, to celebrate change and hope it continues.
It’s just another moment that I feel so lucky to have an incredible group of friends, be Canadian and call Toronto my home.
Oslo hosted EuroPride last week, too. Sadly, I was out of town.

The outfits I saw just walking to and from the Jay’s game on Saturday were so insane! I love how the whole city is involved!
The colors are stunning! Pride in Toronto looks like a fun event; I have yet to go to the one here in NY, hopefully time will allow next year 😀
Looks like so much fun! It is a pretty big deal here in Sydney too and gets pretty crazy during the lead up to it too. Unfortunately this year it was raining but still fun none the less
I was watching just outside the Eaton Chelsea and I have to say…longest parade in the world. It clocked in at 5hrs from start to finish. Insane. I had a lot of fun as a spectator though. It was great to see so much support for the event.
I was on Yonge Street cheering along loudly, got supersoaked countless times, and high-fived the Rob Ford pantomime … such great times!
We are profoundly lucky to be Canadian.
There are some really fantastic photos in this post! I managed to catch part of a pride march in London, but am really gutted I missed Sydney’s Mardi Gras this year!

Great post! Love all the colours! I’m sad I missed it, but its always on the same weekend we go up to the cottage. Next year we’ll have to try harder.
