Want to get married in Las Vegas? Here are tips for the Best Valley of Fire Wedding.
Don’t get too excited.
It wasn’t Dave and I having a spectacular Valley of Fire wedding but my little sister.
Neither of us are fussy about weddings or getting married and so when Joe proposed they decided to have an affordable wedding in one of Joe’s favourite cities – Las Vegas.
Now I know Las Vegas weddings seem kitschy or even tacky with Elvis presiding in a little white chapel.
But that’s not the only kind of ceremony you can have – take a look at what Joe planned for a wedding in the Valley of Fire – that’s right, the groom planned this.
Planning a destination wedding isn’t easy, in Las Vegas alone there are so many options.
You can pretty much get married any way you’d like in Sin City. A Valley of Fire wedding is one to consider, look at the stunning landscape.
Weddings in Vegas are a huge business and so I asked the groom if he now had tips to share:
Tips for a Valley of Fire Wedding
1. Avoid long weekends and holidays. It’s more expensive and busy.
2. Research and read reviews on every supplier from wedding company to limo companies and restaurants etc.
3. Talk to people on the phone about your booking, ask for an email confirmation.
4. If a wedding company is planning your wedding, make sure to follow their itinerary. They often have more than one wedding in a day. If you run late, photography could be cut short.
5. If other people come to Vegas they want a vacation too. Don’t plan the whole trip, ask them to commit to the wedding day the rest is free time.
6. Get the marriage licence the day before.
7. Make sure all the guests know the itinerary for the day.
8. All guests should stay in the same hotel. They will be easier to wrangle.
9. Let the hotel know you’re getting married as you’ll probably get a room upgrade.
10. Arrive a day or two before but stay out of the sun to avoid a burn and don’t get drunk the day before the wedding.
11. Don’t forget about tips! Make sure to budget for everyone you hire, wedding company, limo, photographer, restaurant/reception.
12. Have fun, it’s Vegas!
Not planning a wedding in Las Vegas but still want to have fun?
Joe has written two racy non-fiction books:
It Doesn’t Stay in Vegas – The Saga of the Unorthodox Gentleman
The Redemption of the Unorthodox Gentleman
absolutely beautiful. I actually teared up during the video!! her dress is gorgeous, what a beautiful wedding.
This was a great thing to do!
I just recently got engaged and neither of us are very finicky about weddings and all the traditions that surround it. We entertained the thought of a Las Vegas wedding too but for convenience sake decided to hold it here in the Okanagan – certainly similar weather to Vegas! I’m saving Las Vegas for the Bachelorette party.
Love these photos – the red rock, sunset and her dress are so amazing together!
Congratulations to your sister! Her dress is beautiful! Also, you guys are basically twins 🙂
I love tip #9. Let the hotel know you’re getting married as you’ll probably get a room upgrade.
My friend made a spontaneous trip to get married in Vegas and received an upgrade at the hotel she was staying at plus a free bottle of champagne.
Maybe next time I’ll do this 😉
Gorgeous! Who knew a Las Vegas wedding could look so stylish? 😉
Everything about this is adorable and so perfect! I can’t believe how much your sister looks like you! What a beauty. And THAT DRESS! Gimme.
Your sis looks just like you! You could be twins! And these photos are mesmerizing…making me rethink the beach wedding in favor of desert!
What a beautiful wedding and amazing to see two people actually having fun on the day, as opposed to posing and stressing…..I’m getting married in 10 months time (and counting!) and all I want now is this awesome Vegas wedding!
It would be even better if my boyfriend would plan it like Joe did…….
Valley of Fire is a gorgeous place! I never thought to have a wedding there, but it looks so beautiful.
We are getting married next year and looking to get married at the Valley of Fire National park also. I was wondering if you guys went with one of the packages for this wedding? I have been researching and the Valley of Fire site seems to offer more for the money. Your wedding was beautiful and simple. That dress is great!!
My sister did go with a package for her wedding. It was much easier that way.
These tips were my favorite:
8. All guests should stay in the same hotel. They will be easier to wrangle.
9. Let the hotel know you’re getting married as you’ll probably get a room upgrade.
10. Arrive a day or two before but stay out of the sun to avoid a burn and don’t get drunk the day before the wedding.
Because at my wedding, these things all coincidentally worked out great, but we hadn’t planned for them ahead of time. Alcoholic friends stayed sober without being reminded. Free room upgrade because my mother-in-law happened to be on the phone with my wedding planner when we checked in. And we all randomly happened to be in the same hotel.
What an absolutely gorgeous wedding. Such a beautiful setting. I love that its not the typical wedding you think of when you hear “Vegas Wedding”.
What service did she use and package dos she choose? I want something no fuss so would love to hire someone to do all the coordinating for me.
You can definitely choose a package where they take care of everything from the moment they pick you up until they drop you off.
The video and pictures are stunning!! Congratulations for your sister.
came across your blog while searching about getting married in vegas,
Who did arrange your sister wedding ? i would like to contact them for a package as well.

Hey Dave+Ayngelina !!!
Its great to read such article. I really appreciate it.If you are on the fence about marrying in the desert near Las Vegas at any of the spectacular natural venues available (ie., Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon and so on) today’s wedding will push you over the edge, solidly into the “We have to do that NOW” camp. From the palette drawn from Mother Nature to the succulent-adorned floral designs and the vintage wood furniture paired with touches of lace, your heart will be racing and you will be feeling the love in this little family
Keep posting such article.
have a great day..!!
Such stunning pictures. It’s true that Las Vegas does offer more than that little chapel and impersonator/officiant. Haha. The scenery is a selling point to me. It makes the wedding even more special. Cheers to your sister’s wedding!
Wow, beautiful couple, beautiful wedding! I love how simple and sweet this is. I am a huge fan of keeping things small and discreet and I think this is now my new favorite wedding site! Thanks so much for sharing! It turned out fabulous!
I love how unique and creative this wedding is. Thank you for sharing this! <3
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a big wedding in Vegas. Now I know.
Vegas seems like such a fun place to get married, and that backdrop made for some great pictures! I didn’t know that you could get a room upgrade as a wedding party, so that’s great o know. Thanks for sharing!
I like how this is like a destination wedding but it’s not on a beach. This makes it so interesting for photos and for memories. Thank you for sharing all of these tips!
Gorgeous!! Vegas wedding its a dream !!
Wow! I’ve never thought about a wedding in this area but it looks stunning. But I think it would be too hot for me 😀
It is warm, which is why the weddings are held at sunset when it’s a bit more cool.
Hi there! Do you know who their planner/photographer was??? We’re getting married there in October and are looking for vendors!
Love this!
A wedding in Las Vegas is a dream for me, and I hope that when I get married, it’s in Las Vegas. I imagine how good my bachelor party will be in Las Vegas, and it’s the best thought that’s come to my mind.
Hi! This looks fantastic and just what my fiancé and I are hoping to do! We love this time of day! Just wondering what time was this? I’m trying to plan a time and love that afternoon glow with the sun slowly setting! Thanks 🙂
We were there at 6pm, but I think you’d need to check the sunset times for the time of year. My sister bought it as a package as they told us the optimal time.
