Mazatlan, Mexico
Every time you announce something, such as not liking formal restaurants and preferring smaller Mazatlan restaurants in less touristy areas, you are proven wrong.
Tonight is the Dia de la Musica, a big music festival in Mazatlan and we were taken to a restaurant facing out to Plazuela Machado.
Normally any open air table facing a plaza has me running, but I need to readjust my attitude.
Pedro y Lola isn’t catering to gringo’s preferences for burgers and fries and instead features Sinaloa’s regional cuisine.
There is no sikil pak as it’s not part of this region.
The restaurant is named after the couple Pedro Infante and Lola Beltran both accomplished vocalists from the city.
In celebration of the two the families gave the restaurant their favourite recipes, one for pork and one for shrimp.
While the city is known for its shrimp I could not help but try Pedro’s pork recipe.
And the shrimp wrapped with bacon and cheese aren’t too shabby either!
Shrimp with bacon and cheese! Yum!
On their own or all together, always delicious.
Looks like a lovely place!
With the love story behind it I think you’d really like it here.
Yummmmmmmmy….
Such an understatement!
I think I’d like that place.
Great food in the open air, you cannot beat it.
I am SO glad that I cast my eye on this photo just before going out to dinner as I’ve now got quick a hunger rumbling in my stomach… x
Shrimp wrapped with bacon and cheese should do the trick.
Just returned from a great meal at a Mexican restaurant!
Nice, in what city?
I just gave up meat, but shrimp and bacon … MMMMM.
I had no idea you just gave up meat, oh the sacrifice!
Wait, you like bacon??? I wouldn’t have guessed. 😉
I know! And here I thought they made it just for me – I guess I’m not the only one who loves bacon.
I LOVE places like this that are owned by couples. Our fav place to eat in La Paz was because the couple running it were FANTASTIC.
