Livingston, Montana
I am only in Livingston for one night but as soon as I arrived at the Murray Hotel I realized it would not be like the rest of Montana. There are lots of cute bars, coffee houses and gourmet pizza. It feels much more like Portland without all the hipsters.
It is a quirky little town with a surprisingly large number of celebrities living here like Margo Kidder and travel writer Tim Cahill, although I am not surprised given how beautiful it is here.
When I asked around to see what there was to see at night I was told to just walk around and enjoy the neon signs.
Sweet shots! Please tell me you made it in the Whiskey Creek Saloon?
I love a good neon sign. The murray cafe one is great!
Great night shots. Speaking of Portland, Scott and I are considering visiting this December. It’s between Portland, Sedona, or San Francisco. So tough to choose!
How cool! I’ve never even heard of Livingston…I love small places like this with a lot of character and brick buildings.
I love it. The tourism consists of looking at the signage. They ARE cool signs, though.
I love neon – I know a lot of people think it is a blight, but I find it a delight. It’s one of the things I love about Japan and Hong Kong – so much electric neon everywhere. Vancouver used to have lots, but it was mostly removed to beautify the city circa mid-century – a lot of people want it back.
Love love love these signs & photos! So cute and quirky.
I hate to say it because it sounds cliche but Livingston is definitely a hidden gem most people don’t know about and just drive through.
Cool post and photos. Something different. I never think of Montana and neon signs together.
I haven’t been to Livingston in years! Did you travel anywhere else in Montana?
